Arabic Language Teacher
Type of Position
Contract, with the possibility of extension and conversion into a full-time position

The Arabic Language Teacher will teach Lebanese Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic at various levels (elementary, intermediate, and advanced) to non-native speakers, both individually and in groups. (S)he will be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the Arabic language in both its colloquial and formal varieties, and able and willing to follow a standardized curriculum as well as to develop and deliver lessons and instructional materials to meet the needs of Arabic learners. (S)he will work independently as well as consult with the Lead Instructor on lesson planning and delivery.
Short-listed candidates will be invited for a formal interview and may be asked to teach a class session. We will then invite the successful candidate to receive paid training in our program. During this training period, the candidate will be given certain teaching responsibilities. If the candidate’s performance is deemed satisfactory upon the completion of this training period, the candidate will be offered additional teaching opportunities in accordance with student demand. The duration of each contract will depend upon the length of the course(s) included in the contract.
A university degree is required, preferably in Arabic language and literature, English language and literature, translation, or a related field.
Previous language teaching experience is strongly preferred.
- native fluency in Arabic (Lebanese dialect)
- excellent knowledge (practical and theoretical) of Modern Standard Arabic
- excellent knowledge (practical and theoretical) of English
- knowledge of other languages, especially French, is an asset but not required
- proficiency in Microsoft Office is strongly preferred

Legal Work Status
As we are unable to arrange a work permit for this position, applicants must have Lebanese citizenship or a valid work permit for Lebanon.
An ability and willingness to work flexible hours is very important for this position, as we schedule classes at various times of the day (morning, afternoon, and evening). It is also important that the applicant understand that the amount of available hours may fluctuate from time to time in accordance with student demand for lessons.
